Aftercare for PicoSure Laser Tattoo Removal Treatments
The PicoSure laser system we use for tattoo removal is safe and gentle. However, it is still considered a medical procedure. You’ll need to take good care of your skin immediately following your treatment sessions and in between sessions to achieve the best results.
Immediately following your treatment, apply petroleum-based ointments such as Aquaphor to the area and cover with a bandage. Change the bandage and reapply the ointment every eight hours for three days.If your skin blisters, do not puncture the blisters. They will drain on their own. Breaking the skin could lead to an infection in the skin.
Keep the treated area clean and reapply the ointment daily until it has healed. Avoid hot tubs, or swimming for 48 hours after treatment or if any blisters emerge.
As your skin heals from the treatment, it may itch as if you have a sunburn. Don’t scratch the area or pick at any scabs that may appear.
Avoid any sun exposure to the area in between treatment sessions. Exposing the treated skin to ultraviolet light could result in hyperpigmentation (darkening) of the area. If you’ll be in the sun, apply 50+SPF sunscreen every two hours.
You’ll follow up with us for a checkup and to schedule your next session roughly 8 to 12 weeks after your treatment.
You may experience some side effects from the laser tattoo removal session, including:
These side effects may be intense following your initial session, but they should diminish throughout your course of treatment.
